Development
Charles May II (Chuck) heads the Development department for Urban Retail Properties, LLC. Mr. May is responsible for the economic performance and the execution of all new development projects, repositioned projects, ground-up developments, and third party developments, both domestically and internationally. Projects include open- air lifestyle centers, regional malls, mixed-use retail/entertainment centers and community centers.
Prior to joining Urban, Mr. May was Senior Vice President – Development for CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. Prior to joining CBL, Mr. May spent 10 years in development at Sears Roebuck and Co. and over 20 years with Homart Development Company. Responsibilities included acquisition, entitlement, design and construction, development/economic management, and leasing.
Mr. May holds a bachelor’s degree from Colgate University as well as a juris doctorate from The John Marshall Law School. He is a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) and The Urban Land Institute (ULI).
