Shanghai, China
Retail Sq Ft: 150-acres
Shanghai Marina City, also known as The Shanghai Fish,
will be a world-class community
located in Shanghai’s Fengxian District. An integrated
residential, resort, retirement,
retail, entertainment and commercial waterside community, it
is set on 650 acres at the
convergence of the historic Huangpu River and Punan Canal.
Built around a 150-acre man-made waterway uniquely shaped
like a giant Chinese goldfish,
Shanghai Marina City offers a wealth of opportunity for
retailers, residents and tourists. Its
location is minutes from downtown Shanghai and yet is a
world apart, a new lifestyle haven
for China’s burgeoning moneyed class.
The project came into existence in 2005, when Shanghai’s
Fengxian District was designated
by the central government as the hub of China’s leisure
marine industry. In response,
Long Runn Investment of Tampa, Urban Retail Properties of
Chicago and HHCP Design of
Orlando, in close cooperation with local government,
designed the blueprint for China’s
first-ever marina-based community. Shanghai Marina City is
currently in development
and will include an interactive maritime museum (located in
the “eye” of the fish shape), a
waterside retail pier, and an island consisting of
nightclubs and seafood themed restaurants.
In addition, two marinas will accommodate more than 300
boats, and a musical fountain
and laser show will entertain visitors.
