Urban Retail's Development Group implements development projects in both new construction and expansions/renovations. We manage all aspects of development processes including feasibility, design and construction. Urban Retail approaches each project from an Owner's perspective, the goal being to maximize value and create a long-term viable asset. We ensure that Ownership's dollars are spent wisely and that the project is completed on schedule and on budget. Urban's Development Group is comprised of a highly experienced staff whose average tenure in the industry exceeds 15 years. Urban Retail assigns a Development Manager to each development project. The function of the Development Manager is three fold:

  • To manage the process from the initial feasibility, through design and construction, to project opening;
  • To be the single point of contact for the client;
  • And to coordinate the efforts of the other Urban Retail Departments including Leasing, Management, Marketing and Tenant Coordination.

Urban Retail's philosophy is to be actively involved in all aspects of the development process, especially in the major steps of feasibility analysis, design, contractor strategy/selection, and construction management. Even in those areas where a highly experienced consultant is performing the task, the Development Manager, working with Management and Leasing, will thoroughly review the work product and challenge the consultant to provide alternative solutions where appropriate and to optimize the final product.
